The endless edge of Now

I think I'll just leave this here (posted out of order for effect):

  • 10:45 <@root> You: While we haven't yet solved the singularity for human
lifespan, we sure have for the persistence of memory. I'm surprised no one's noticed.

Ah, so this is what you meant.

I'm personally still wary/paranoid about messing with the moving or copying of memories digitally. I instantly jump to the idea that if my memories were moved out of my body and into another (species of the body aside), this body would think they are me, but aren't.

The me me... is still in the old body. Which if anything lead me to moving my memories, maybe it was because it was dying. So I could then end up observing postmortem this pretender continuing my life.

EDIT: Of course what you're referring to is less my own memories, and more what people remember of me. The me that exists in the memories of others. Can I trust it, if it were to continue my existence? What about the me here, or wherever it may go later?

On the other hand, Spider Robinson said: do not hoard ideas too intensely, lest you paint yourself into a corner. Granted, that was about copyright, but there may be something more general in there.
